Faculty - Prof. Onkar Dwivedi Ph.D
Onkar Dwivedi holds a Ph.D. from Queen’s University, Kingston, Canada. He was appointed as a full professor of Political Science at the University of Guelph in 1976 and he held various positions while at the University such as Chair of the Department and acting Dean of Social Sciences. On his retirement in May 2002, the University of Guelph appointed him University Professor Emeritus.
He has written, coauthored and edited 32 books and over 110 chapter/articles in professional journals and scholarly books as well as numerous technical and mission reports. He has attained national and international scholarly recognition for his contributions and he has received several academic honors including: an honorary degree of L.L.D. (Doctor of Law) from the University of Lethbridge (Alberta) Canada; Lifetime Achievement Award from the International Association of Schools and Institutes of Administration (Brussels, Belgium); Fellow (FRSC) (the highest scholarly honor in Canada) from the Royal Society. He has also held various international consultancy assignments and appointments including his most recent international appointment with the United Nations as a member of the Group of Experts on Globalization and the State. He has held numerous professional offices including President of the Canadian Political Science Association and Founding Director and President of the Canadian Asian Studies Association, President of the Canadian Council of Area Studies Learned Societies and Vice President of the International Association of Schools and Institutes of Administration (IASIA Brussels, Belgium). He has also been very involved with community service and he has organized spiritual societies and groups to serve the immigrant Hindu community in Canada as well as starting hospitals and schools for poor people in India.
