Faculty - Prof. Shirley Anne Telles, Ph.D

Born in Kenya, Dr. Telles did her MBBS from Goa Medical College, M. Phil and Ph.D. in Neurophysiology (1992) from the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences, Bangalore. Dr. Telles is an Assistant Director of Research at the Swami Vivekananda Yogananda Yoga Foundation, Bangalore and chief investigator of a 24-month project entitled - “Uni-nostril yoga breathing and research in yoga and naturopathy, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India.” She was invited as a lecturer at Bastyr University, Bothell, Seattle, Washington; Department of Clinical Psychology, University of Houston, Texas; and Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics, University of Florida at Gainesville, Florida. Her academic distinctions include Fulbright travel grant award, 1998, for a project: “Response to external auditory stimuli during meditation: study of evoked potentials and MRI”, Indian Council of Medical Research Young Scientist Award for biomedical research, 1993, Indian Science Congress Association Young Scientist Award for research in physiology, 1991. She has authored two books: ‘A Glimpse of the Human Body: Its structure and functions’ and ‘Research Methods’ (jointly with Dr. H.R. Nagendra).
